Background:
I’ve loved animals my whole life and grew up caring for a variety - cats, dogs, and horses! I strive to treat each animal with patience and respect, ensuring both their basic and social needs are met.
I spent my younger years growing up with a cat, a german shepard dog, and a few horses. Later in life, my little family consisted of my husband and I alongside our two cats, a blind greyhound dog, and an Arabian horse.
While all of our animals were adopted through various circumstances, our greyhound dog was a bit of a special case - he came from a racing kennel, but had never raced due to vision loss, that eventually developed into full blindness. Despite this, he lived a happy, relatively normal life and we worked with him using voice cues like "step", "wait", and "watch out" to help him navigate life like a pro. Our cats both came to us from off the street, and my horse was adopted as a result of her retirement from a therapeutic riding stable. They lived their best lives, being spoiled and well loved until they passed on.
Outside of my own animals, I've regularly lived and volunteered at horse farms, helping take care of horses, mini-donkeys, a sheep, cows, barn cats, and dogs. In those roles, I helped out with a bit of everything - supporting feeding, grooming, mucking, blanketing, turnout, minor first-aid, and general care. I've also helped manage senior horses, administering eye drops, treating cuts, and making sure they get a bit extra feed, blanketing, and attention during cold winter months to ensure their comfort and health.
Becuase I've owned and assisted in caring for animals with special needs I understand some animals require a bit of extra care, so I like to focus on the details and take a patient approach - adjusting to each animal individually to ensure they feel safe and at ease!
I am always up for learning and excited to provide everything from feeding and walks to ear scratches! Please don't hesitate to reach out - I'd love to meet you and your pet(s)!
